Brownfield Redevelopment
Working Together for Creative Environmental and Land Use Solutions.
Virginia is leading the country as one of the first states to enact progressive legislation encouraging the remediation and re-use of environmentally contaminated properties, also known as brownfields. By working with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, qualified owners of contaminated properties are now eligible for partial amnesty from state and federal regulations. Decisions from the Supreme Court of the United States may also allow land owners of contaminated properties to recover environmental cleanup costs from prior land owners and other potentially responsible parties.
If you are attempting to develop or dispose of environmentally impacted properties, we will help. We have guided purchasers through acquiring and developing old landfill sites and sellers negotiating the sale of regulated parcels. Virginia’s statutes and regulations make these transactions easier, safer, and more profitable for all parties. Moreover, we can provide assistance in obtaining grants or other financial assistance to fund the cleanup of contaminated sites.
