Filing Proofs of Claim
If someone who owes you money has filed for bankruptcy protection, you may be required to file a proof of claim in order to get any of the money owed to you. There are specific deadlines and requirements for filing proofs of claim in order for your claim to be processed. In addition, once your claim has been filed, debtors can file an objection to your proof of claim that could require litigation.
